LMIA needed? (for Canadian employers only)
In many cases when Canadian employers want to hire a Temporary Foreign Worker, they must first apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (“LMIA”) with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. The Canadian Government requires this process in order to ensure that the hiring of a foreign worker will have a positive or neutral effect on the Canadian labour market – in other words, the employers were unable to find a suitable Canadian citizen or permanent resident to fill the position.
Just as most job situations are not the same, so the requirements for the LMIA application can be unique, for instance due to the job and wage requirements, recruitment efforts and the application process itself.
At Red Moose we will first help you determine whether you need to apply for an LMIA. If that is the case, we will then guide you through the complete application process and prepare the application form(s) for you.
